As materiality cannot be reduced to isolated objects, common concepts of norm, normality, and normativity are at stake and to be questioned, as hidden features of material culture, and as a starting point to imagine and design otherwise.
The Symposium “Access and Tinkering: Designing Assistive Technologies as Political Practice”, organised by the DFG funded Scientific Network “Dis/Abilities and Digital Media” takes place as an online event at Humboldt University Berlin, including Keynotes by Prof. Aimi Hamraie (Vanderbilt University) on Crip Making (Host: Tom Bieling), Tomas S. Criado (Humboldt University) on the Pharmakon of Collaboration, Prof. Dr. Anne Waldschmidt (Universität Köln), roundtable discussions and an interactive maker session.
